CS meet and Penathlon & Invitational Times

    Parents,

I would like to send a huge thank you for all the families who stepped up and covered volunteer positions that they were not scheduled for on Saturday.  Navasota has a smaller team this year and weren't able to cover all the duties for the meet. They were amazed that our parents were so quick to volunteer and cover all the missing spots.  We have GREAT PARENTS!!!

Our meet this weekend is against College Station.  Since this is graduation weekend for many area schools, it will be very important for every to sign up, verify their events, and sign up for a volunteer position.  With a number of families being out, we may need both parents to cover volunteer positions at this meet (crossing our fingers that we don't have to).  Remember we must have 4 eligible swimmers in each gender and age group in order to have a relay.  These events are fun and help your swimmer to get some extra time in the water.  Please consider this when verifying times.

Pentathlon will be held on June 11, 2017 at Klien Forest High School.  This meet requires swimmers to have a time in the 50 Free, Back, Breast, Fly and 100 IM.  Once a swimmer has an official time (a time from a dual meet-not Mock Meet or DQ times) for each event, their times will be totaled and verified against the eligibility times.  If they meet the required times, they will swim all 5 events on Sunday at the meet.  Awards are given to the swimmers with the fastest overall times.  The cost to enter this event is $25.

Trinity and Ponderosa Invitationals are held on June 24-25, 2017 in the Woodlands and in Houston.  In order to participate in either of these meets, swimmers must meet the qualifying times.  These meets are open to swimmers throughout the Gulf, so they are large and a lot of fun.  Since these events are on the same days, swimmers who qualify for both may need to choose which meet they will attend.  In the past swimmers have attended both, but that can be difficult depending on the timelines and Houston traffic.  Both meets require swimmers to pay per qualifying event, but the team will pay for relays that qualify.

I know this information may seem early to share, but it is important for swimmers to start setting goals if they wish to attend any of these events.  For some this can play a part in the events their parents select for them to race at each dual meet.  I have provided the qualifying times for all 3 events under the links tab.  If you are thinking this may be something your swimmer is interested in, please help them look over the times and help them set goals.  Sometimes this means swimming events that aren't their favorite.  If you have specific questions about these events and would like more information, you can go to NWAL's site and find information packets under the Invitational tab.  If you have questions that can not be answered from the site, please feel free to contact any of the board members.
