Summer Practice Times and Volunteer info
June 4th
There is no practice on Friday of this week. Saturday's meet will begin at 8:30 am. Set-up begins at 6:45, warm-ups at 7:15am. We'll see everyone bright and early! Next week, we will start a zero session at 4pm for 3rd session swimmers, to alleviates some of the congestion that occurs when the pool opens. We are contracted for four lanes when the pool opens, it can be crowded. If you are available at 4pm, please come. If not, we will still hold 3rd session at the regular time.
Please note- We need at least one adult from every family to volunteer for every home meet. One of the reasons we eliminated the set-up and clean-up commitees is because we do not have enough parents to fill our positions during the meet. We have alot of families with multiple swimmers, which means we have less parents to work with. Many of our families do double duty with both parents volunteering and we so appreciate their willingness and sacrifice. But, many of them would not have to do double duty, if we all did our part. We expect everyone to help set-up and clean-up. We still have many people not signing up for positions; if your child is swimming and you are not signed up to volunteer, you will be assigned a position. We are especially understaffed during the second half of the meet. So, please do your part and remember that many of our volunteers spend hours and hours each week outside the pool to be sure that your child can swim, we just need you for a few hours each Saturday.
Another important note- The pool opens to the public Saturday, this means alot of our procedures will change come Monday. We will begin using the front entrance to enter the pool. You must let them know you are with the Lakers. Parents, siblings and Lakers who are through with practice may not use the pool unless they have paid the fees. Lakers are authorized to be in the pool for their practice time only. Please be honest, as the pool is very strict about this. Also, note that there are yearly family passes available and many families on the team purchase these so that their children/siblings can play during/after practice. Meet sign-ups will be moved to the pool deck area, near where we practice. Be sure to keep the closet closed and be sure to mark your items and keep them with you. We have many things go "missing" once the pool opens. We also have a huge amount of lost and found items, they will be donated soon, as we are literally overflowing and don't have space to keep them. They will be out at practice today, so check and see if you lost anything.
Party Etiquette- When there are private parties at the pool, it is important that we stay over by the bleacher area and far pool deck to be out of the way. We need to stay in the vicinity of our four practice lanes. If you have other children with you, they must stay with you and be out of the way. During parties, we cannot be near the recreation pool, or in the concession area. After practice, we need to clear out quickly and not disturb the party. This is really important!!
Thanks- The Lakers
